People deal with trauma as they are, not as they would like to be.

Therapy can be transformative

Working with people who have been impacted by trauma is important to me as a clinician.  I am committed to using the therapeutic process with people to develop healthy coping skills in the wake of these experiences.  It is important for me to provide safe and ethical care for clients of a variety of backgrounds with an emphasis on meeting the unique needs of Black, Indigenous, and people of color as well as people in various queer and transgender communities.

A multifaceted approach

My clinical tools are primarily motivational interviewing, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness-based CBT, suicide assessment, and a strengths-based approach. I utilize these skills to create an environment in which people are better able to identify problems and strengths so they can change behaviors that are no longer useful for them. I help people navigate a multitude of complexities such as racism, family dynamics, career challenges, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, addiction, grief, loss, and bereavement.  Demographically, I have applied my skills to help people across the human lifespan from children (K-12) as a school social worker to geriatric populations as a medical social worker.

Health and Wellness in a Dynamic world

People today are navigating a variety of complex feelings and experiences in the wake of our COVID-19 global pandemic. While many people and institutions have found some path towards stability or predictability in these times, it is okay if you are not feeling okay. Therapy is a dynamic experience. You may begin seeing support due to a challenge brought on by the pandemic and other relevant issues may be what keeps you engaged in treatment. Sometimes in therapy, we will focus with what feels like the “problem of the day” and other times we will be focused on identifying ways to live well. For more information on what pandemic era wellness looks like, please view my talk with the Health King County Coalition here.

Individual therapy and counseling

This is designated for individuals to process and explore their thoughts. Typically, meetings are weekly or bi-weekly.

Currently via Telehealth. For Sundays I have in-person availability for vaccinated clients at my office in Smith Tower.

Clinical Supervision

Aside from individual or group supervision hours, I may recommend additional supplementary educational experiences based on what I discover during supervision. This may be a CEU program, books, articles, or podcast episodes. This is to supplement your professional development experience.

For our first session we should talk about your goals, skill level, clinical experience and more. I will share about my background as well. This will give us the opportunity to ensure that we are a good fit for supervision.

Check your insurance.

I am currently an in-network provider for First Choice insurance, Kaiser PPO, Kaiser HMO, and Premera. Many clients choose private pay, which provides a higher degree of flexibility and privacy. This is due to private pay being exempt from compliance audits and insurance reporting.

For out-of-network reimbursement, I can provide you with a superbill for use with your insurance plan or HSA/FSA benefits. Contact your insurance providers to determine whether they reimburse for providers who are out of their network and what their reimbursement rate is to help you plan for treatment.
